What is poetry?
Poetry comes from the ancient Greek word "poieo," which means "I create." It is an art form that uses language to create images, moods, and emotions. Poets carefully select their words to fit a particular form and/or to convey a particular meaning. Poets use sound devices, imagery, and figurative language to express ideas. Poetry is one of the most ancient forms of literature and has specific genres of its own.
